I was sorry to learn that Furlow Gatewood died on October 29, at the age of 101. 

He was sort of a "designer's designer",  and antiques dealer extraordinaire,  beloved by other greats.  If Bunny Williams and the late Julia Reed are your biggest fans, you're one for the books!

I've shown some of his classic rooms before-- the guy was just gold.

You might remember the gothic cottage in Americus, Georgia that he restored:

His property, "One Man's Folly",  was known for its lovely landscaping and surroundings too, peppered with flowers and live peacocks.  A lot of his projects he commenced after age 82--  inspiring!

Love his idea--  simple but smashing-- of lining the driveway with enormous pots of hydrangeas:

I like it all, but I especially love the two dogs on the book cover.  One looks like a greyhound and the other an Italian greyhound (smaller).

He enjoyed a long life and I enjoyed features and articles of his work over the years. I always admired that Gothic cottage, among other examples of his efforts.

That is so interesting, @luvzchiz --  I didn't realize the distinction between those two types of greyhounds!   They are both so cute.

I have seen that home.  I am a Georgia creature.  I once lived near Jimmy Carter and this distinguished gentleman's home.  Loved the book by Bunny and Julia (especially Bunny, maybe my favorite decorator/designer).
