Nashville-based designer Eric Ross created a room in Columbia, S.C., that feels airy to me, softly washed in color, serene and timeless.

Love the vintage-looking lamp,  the other antiques, and the comfy looking couches and chairs...

I think it's really enhancing, that the room has appealing vistas into other, light-filled spaces.  Like, the living room looks into another room at this end, that could be a sun room:

And back at the other end of the room, it looks into this lovely entry way, with yet another room ( dramatically black?) beyond...

The house has a pretty dining room too.  The walls are a little darker, still neutral, a 'malted milk' color, but with more soft color in chairs and curtains:

Love the artful little vignettes he sets up!

Here's a sprinkling of Eric Ross's work from other houses from around the country:

Adore this bedroom--

The hallway outside of the above bedroom has some of my favorite colors together-- a chartreuse-y green, deep blue, and minty green.  Slightly kooky, and very 'English country house' look..

I don't really gravitate to yellow, but this is cheerful.

Here he goes milk-chocolate-y dark in this living room, but all the off-white, and other colors, plus the light coming in, uplift it for me.  Love the lived-in, squished down leather chair by the hearth!

Yummy blues and stately paintings in this dining room--

Yeah, he tends to lean more "formal' than I would, and more layered, working as he does in these beautiful old houses, but in that vein he does terrific work, in my opinion.

I think the Living room has to much furniture where it looks cluttered

Not a fan of brown painted walls, however the living  room in the picture  looks to be getting alot of sun and it reflects off the mirror . The  big blue sofa  and  many Chinoiserie  pieces also helps the brown walls from looking too sad.

The bedroom with the blue walls is nice  and appears to  have plenty of sunshine from the big window. Could not make out the  drapery and bed linen  pattern , so cannot comment . I would not have the nerve to place a big Chinoiserie  jar on top of that mint colored cabinet

The only thing I love about that is the clever use of the artwork mimicking the floral in front of it. Everything else looks like a hodge podge of 'stuff' without style to me.

I like all of this. Pretty colors; classy. I love the bedroom with the yellow touches and both dining rooms the best.

The more I look at the photos, trying to find something I like, the less I'm finding to like.

Re: SOUTH CAROLINA LIVING ROOM

The only room I "kinda" like is the yellow bedroom but even then, I'd have to swap out a few things.  The rest of the house doesn't appeal to me whatsoever.

Re: SOUTH CAROLINA LIVING ROOM

I would have to remove about 50% of the extra furniture and stuff to be happy.

The print drapes would also have to go but I could make it mine with those adjustments.

Re: SOUTH CAROLINA LIVING ROOM

He relies more on blues than would be my choice, but all of his rooms are nicely done and have a lot of appeal for those preferring more traditional settings, of which I'm one.

Re: SOUTH CAROLINA LIVING ROOM

Absolutely beautiful. I tend to like a lot of furniture in a space so this really speaks to me. The only thing I would change is the dark brown wall color. The rooms are so inviting and cozy. Love!
