@Sweetbay magnolia ,  love that you built your entry around that distinctive art work with the interesting provenance!  And I also love oversize art like yours-- sets a real tone for entering into a house...

 

I'm the only one not put off by the state of the tattered rug, it appears.  Not that I'd necessarily use it-- the safety factor might deter me.  If anything can be tripped on, I'll find it and trip.  I might hang it.  But--  I love antique rugs-- whether they be whole, gently used, or, sometimes, rather thin and worn.  It depends on the context, too.  It's all beauty to me, if the rug is outstanding to start with.  Some of the ones in English country houses are equally as tattered, and loved despite it all, or perhaps even "because of"...
