Re: SMALL SITTING ROOM GETS FALL TOUCHES

I don’t see much that looks fall or autumn to me in this room. I guess I’d prefer more traditional fall colors in reds & oranges.

I like indoor plants, but there’s too many for me. IMO The 2 large ones are way too big to be placed on the built-in shelves. They’d look better on the floor somewhere.

I like the built-ins & window seat. The rug, fireplace, & mantel are ok. I don’t like the lamp and coffee table at all. Most of the furnishings & accessories aren’t for me.

In theory, I like cozy but this goes beyond cozy to claustrophobic. Not seeing many fall touches, but then there's a lot packed into a very small space. Actively dislike the coffee table and really, lose the HGTV magazine. To me, they offer truly awful decorating advice... I like the built ins and possibly the rug, albeit in a different space. That's about it for me. Oh yes, and I like the little pumpkin or gourd on the coffee table.

Re: SMALL SITTING ROOM GETS FALL TOUCHES

Let's see, I like the window seat.  Did I mention I like the window seat?

Wow, this is a mess!  I like the built ins and the fireplace, but  I would pitch everything else and start over.  I see nothing "fall" about this room except a couple of pumpkins.

@stevieb , Would LOVE to know where she found the vase. Need to get rid of coffee table. Not enough room to move around.. I could live in her though. As always You are the best when it comes to great ideas stevieb. Prov.

Re: SMALL SITTING ROOM GETS FALL TOUCHES

Very cozy, warm, and snuggy.  I could see myself there, fire burning on a rainy or snowy night.

A few things I would change.  Too much white.  Don't like the lamp, coffee table, and brown throw pillows.  I'd want a TV somewhere.

I do like how she personalized the shelves and like the plants.  They say a lot about her.  To me, she has depth.

Although, I really like this sitting room, it's not my style, but wouldn't mind getaways in a cute house like this.

@sligo  Just wanted to let you know, I have seen art glassware at the Homegoods and Home Sense stores very similar to that vase. I am told their inventory has been down but over time you might find something similar... Good luck!

This room feel cramped to me like I'd be running into something every time I turned around.

Re: SMALL SITTING ROOM GETS FALL TOUCHES

Ha, ha, @faeriemoon ,  for some reason "schlumpy" armchair tickles me.  True!  Oddly, that was actually something I liked though-- gave me the more "lived in" feeling I'm always looking for.

She's such an experienced "photo room stylist",  I'm convinced she left it that way on purpose, to give the impression you could just plop down and be comfy.

Yes, @sligo , isn't that a great vase?  Gives a warm autumnal look, but still could be used year round.

It's from Anthropologie, by the way.  Brooke always gives sources on her blog "Nesting With Grace", when she shows her rooms, even down to what paint colors she used.  I always appreciate that.

Re: SMALL SITTING ROOM GETS FALL TOUCHES

I think it is lovely. Very cozy and inviting and the perfect touch of Fall for the room. I would enjoy curling up with a book and a cup of tea to just spend an afternoon.
