By chance I came upon this sweet spring vignette of a room in Megan D. Miller's house.  She's on instagram, which I'm not, so had to go on the hunt for a few more pictures.

In her previous small house, one online site described her style as "American Colonial meets English cottage".   I enjoy the simplicity of this one, and the lovely rustic antiques--  all that soulful, time-tested wood.

She and her husband were able to buy her parents' saltbox-style house, which I believe is in either Ohio or Pennsylvania.

Broad floorboards!

Since the house is a repro, there is a spacious "bonus room" upstairs--

Nice to have a big bonus room like this for kids. Here her daughters are clearly pleased with their silhouettes, so cute--

How idyllic---

It just seems very restful.  This particular house isn't about color, although there are those wonderful slightly faded or richly colored Oriental rugs underfoot.  The house is more about texture, and an interaction with the available light and surrounding nature outside.  ( Still, just for my personal comfort, I'd have to have simple curtains at the windows!)

Of course, a house like this can always go in a more eclectic direction too-- it doesn't HAVE to be this "purist" and antique-oriented. But it's nice this way too. To me, very tranquil.

Beautiful, simple and functional interiors with an occasional contemporary edge.  Very interesting; I could move in as I love the mix.

Re: SALTBOX HOUSE

[ Edited ]

Another lovely and very interesting home with all the antiques.

I love the comfortable looking couches and throws, and the pretty fresh flowers.

I think I would just have to have some cushions on those hard chairs in the dining room and kitchen!Woman Happy

Simple and unadorned yet quite lovely and warm.

I love the bare windows allowing the light to stream in; similar to what my mother did in the living room of the house I grew up in. Such happy memories Heart

Love the table in the first picture and the tranquil yard.

Yes, yes, yes. I just love this. I see @Oznell that you mentioned it is in Pa. or Ohio but it definitely appeals to my New England roots.

I love separate spaces, unexpected cozy nooks, uncluttered but not sterile, warm and homey. The furnishings could easily be modified to accomodate differing tastes. For me, the wide floor boards, the fireplace, shiplap, beams and beautiful windows are the stars. I can almost smell the fresh bouquet of lilacs.

I really like it. I love the white walls with the different black touches; the ceilings; the floors- it's all lovely. The simplicity is refreshing.

Charming house but it's not for me.

I love all of it.  Uncluttered yet nicely decorated and furnished.  Love everything about it.  Looks comfortable and easy and there's a peacefulness to it - at least I got that feeling.

Very calm and lovely home, this is a place I would use as a get away, to rest and relax at and just enjoy the peace and quiet.  I would put curtains on the windows though to warm up the room, something light but giving privacy.
