Re: Rug shedding any suggestions?

I bought a restautant style carpet sweeper and used that on my rugs daily for a couple of years and now the shedding isn't noticeable.it is much quicker to use than hauling out the vac

Re: Rug shedding any suggestions?

I have this rug also, in beige. Had shedding in the beginning, but just continued to vacuume often (about every other day). It was so bad that even the cat had fibers on him. He's all black, so the beige color really showed up. Not much shedding anymore, but I have a Dyson wireless handheld that I use during the week, and when I vaccume the canister is filled - still. The problem I am having with this rug is that strands of the rug are coming loose often. When I see the piece sticking up, I just pull it up. But there are a few areas where it is noticeable with a bare spot. I have other Royal Palace, which I've now given away, and don't remember having this much shedding and problems with pieces coming out. I've thought about calling to see if I can get a replacement, but I think too much time has passed?

Re: Rug shedding any suggestions?

I purchased the Royal Palace TSV and love it! All of my rugs are Royal Palace because I like the quality and the price. It's a wool rug and it's going to shed. I think it depends on the weave and pattern how much and how long that process lasts. I also think that it depends on your vacuum cleaners. I always have dog/dogs so I vacuum more than the average so the shedding has decreased or stopped on most of mine. I did notice that it seemed that I had a bit more shedding on the newest one but the weave is more open. It is also the most soft of my rugs. The shedding doesn't bother me because I believe that you get some life from a wool rug. I do vacuum the new ones more often than the others for the first month and then it's fine. Now, most of my rugs are light color but I do have a few that are mocha and charcoal. I haven't really noticed a difference in the shedding between the two color waves but I'm at opposite ends of the color wheel.

I always have used Kirby or Dyson vacuums because they are the only brands that pull up the German Shepherd dog hair in this house. It makes a difference for me. Hope this helps you.
