Rowenta Focus Iron 1715

Is anyone else having problems with this iron? First of all the dial is extremely hard to use it won't turn easily and every time I use the steam I get this white stuff coming out all over my clothes. I thought because it was new so I went through and used the steam to get the white particles out but I am still getting them all over my clothes. I do like the steam and how it gets the wrinkles out but I think I am going to return it. Anyone else having these problems? Maybe I just got a lemon.
