I have a rolling laundry cart that  is divided into 3 sections.  I love it.  Sort the clothes, you can see how big a load you have which saves both water and detergent.

Forgot to add that it folds flat and you can store it next to the dryer.

I ordered one today from Amazon. The frame is metal but the "basket" is fabric and at about hip height, and they sell replacements for it when needed. It folds up so it can go into the corner of DH's closet. It will be so nice to not have to bend over to get things out to fold and to have the basket on wheels, no more heavy carrying.

This is very similar to the one I bought. My neighbor told me when she was a young wife during the war they would sew their own basket replacements for these when needed because you couldn't buy them then. So they have been around a while.

My mother has one that looks somewhat like this:

The laundry holder is removable and washable.  There is a big pocket on the outside for clothespins.  It folds even with the wet clothes inside.  As a girl, I had to take the laundry outside and hang it.  It was very convenient.
