Totally agree. We have shutters also. Don't even open them during summer.

My biggest take away from all this is the varying of opinions from one extreme to another.  It is a lovely room but probably not my cup of tea for my home and lifestyle.  🏡

I don't want drapes or curtains in my home period!  Much prefer shades, NOT blinds.

This is the color I remember in my great aunt's house back in the 50s until she died in 1989. 

I think the kitchen was lime green 🫣
