@Carmie  Do you watch Go RVing? I love when they have marathons.Nice 30 minute shows. Reminds me of House Hunters.

We have looked at permanent sites but I'm confused about how the batteries work to transfer over to electricity .Can't seem to be able to wrap my brain round it.I know once you learn,nothing to it

The workers did a beautiful job!  I wouldn't mind it at an RV park. 

Many people sell their homes & travel the country in an RV when they retire.  They're just so big, I wouldn't be comfortable split driving w/ DH in it.

I have never heard of it. Is it on regular TV?

When you are on a permanent site, you just use a cable plug to hook up to an electric outlet.  If you are driving down the road or in the middle of no where, you don't have any electricity and the battery will only work for lights.  You will have no heat or electricity, unless you use a portable generator or you have solar panels.

The refrigerator can work on gas or plugged in electricity and there is a button to switch them on the fridge.  The furnace needs propane gas and electricity for the fans. The water heater uses gas or electric as well.

It is really easy.  We have had an RV since 1988.  I didn't want one, but my DH did.  I just knew I was going to hate it.  I changed my mind when I tried it.

We can travel on a moments notice,and I know my queen size bed and bathroom are clean and not all contaminated by strangers.  It is also less expensive than a hotel. I have every comfort as I do at home and we have slide outs, so we are not cramped.  I especially like to be able to use my own bathroom while on the road traveling.

We love it.

I am not a RV or camper person, but IMO they did a fabulous job on this vehicle. Obviously, it was old, dirty, needed repairs & updating. I’m not usually a black & white decor person, but in this space it makes everything look new & clean. I’m amazed & impressed at people who do this kind of work. 

I still prefer my car and a hotel, but something like this might be fun for a long road trip.

While the after picture may be neater in looks , it is unsightly in every other way in my opinion.  There is absolutely no appeal or feeling for that entire area.

@Carmie I like the idea of my own bathroom and bed (and kitchen and silver/dishware, heck even my own couch and chairs) than a hotels.  Five star hotels can still skeeve me out....

My family has a home on the opposite side of the country.  No one wants to fly any more and driving is doable, but the hotel stays would turn me off.

I just couldn't wrap my head around my grandmother who never liked to do an overnight anywhere other than with family, she didn't even like eating in restaurants.  Now I *get it*.  I beat my own mother to --becoming my grandmother.

I know we would need a super duty pickup, I just asked DH if ours could do it.  Nope.

Most people who pull a fifth wheel camper have a Diesel engine.  Both of our campers are just the pull type with slide outs.  We tow with a Chevy Suburban with a big engine.  If that ever breaks down, we will keep fixing it until we can't.  Those new  suburbans are expensive.

Our first camper was a Class C.  You don't need a tow vehicle, you can drive them.  They are fun and easy to drive. They come in small, med and large. The one was had was an older model in great shape.  It had shag carpet and an 8 track player and plenty of built in ash trays.  We called it the hippy mobile.  We sure had a lot of fun with it.

 If you are interested in trying an RV, buy older one in good shape or rent one first.  There is no need to buy expensive until you are sure you will enjoy traveling this way.

Here's  a pic of a small C class.  You can tow a car behind it or just use the RV as your vehicle.  They are legal to park on a public street.
