@Puppy Lips wrote:I remember him too and used to watch his show. I remember him saying that, "There is a neural tone in every color," or something to that effect. I think that is true. A lot of his ideas weren't for me though. I remember on one show he stapled fabric to a wall as a back drop for a head board. All I remember thinking was how was I going to clean that?
You could vacuum it. I upholstered a piece of plywood to use as a head board and I have had no problems keeping it clean.

I just googled him...he has a website and blog...still dies interior design, has written some books. He also has a FB page. While perusing the google results, there were a few pictures of other oldies, but goodies including Lynette Jennings, Kitty Bartholomew , Canda e Olsen and Carol Duval.

Loved those old decor shows. Nowadays on HGTV, not so much.

@traveler wrote:Yes, it was Interior Motives. Thank you. What was the station? It was homes and gardens format.
It was on Discovery channel.

I also liked lowell's approach and enjoyed his shows. Go check out the blog he posted April 30 on his website. It's pretty powerful.

Yes I remember him! Gosh I was a big fan of his and loved watching him often....he had a great style and personality I often though it would be fun to go shopping with him! LOL!
He was so popular but suddenly disappeared and haven't been heard from since. It has to be at least 20 years since his show.

Thanks for reminding me about CL. I had totally forgotten about him. I watched him often. He did have lots of cost saving decorating tips.
The tip I remember him talking about most was lighting. He suggested using different kinds of lights and light fixtures in the same room - a style I use in my decor. He also talked a lot about using uplights on the floor near faux plants to bring warmth and dimension to a room. I thought it looked nice, but I never did do that.

I remember him. Found a book a few years back at the library. It use to be very interesting to me, how people did the decorating. It still is, but I don't watch those now, and what the women I watched use to do, was way over my head. There was one who used a lot of material. It was cool, but not my style.

Candace Olsen and Carol Duval were favorites of mine.
