Up until my 40’s, I was always rearranging the furniture in the living room and bedrooms. When my husband worked nights, I would leave a lamp on in the living room in order for him to see what I’d done while he was at work. If I’d rearranged the bedroom furniture, I’d leave a note so he’d know where to find the bed.
I still rearrange my living room furniture twice a year, based on the intense afternoon sun in the summer; my husband has a preferred spot for the TV and his recliner, and I don’t want my couch near the front windows.
I used to rearrange my bedroom furniture 2-3x a year, but as my husbands health has declined, I see that the current placement of the bed works best for him, since I give him more walk space and reduce the walk space on my side of the bed.
All of my heavy furniture sits on sliders and can easily easily be moved without help.

Occasionally, I'll rearrange bookcases in my small "library/office" area. That's it.

Living room only a few times a year. Everything else would be too involved and I'm not interested in getting a strained back. ![]()

We usually move our living room furniture around twice a year. Usually at Holiday Time to accomodate all of our Christmas tree and pieces, and then we usually leave our furniture like that for a while, and then again late Spring, Early Summer may change it again. Accessories, we change out at leat twice a year too, just for a different look. We change our bedroom furniture around usually only once a year. It is nice to have a different look once in a while!

Except for moving one chair and lamp at Christmas time to accomodate the tree...never. I kid you not---my architect husband designed the house so that there is only one place for the sofa, one place for the bed, etc. It has to do with window placement and built-in bookcases.

I have spent most of the day rearranging my furniture and accessories for the spring season.
I feel renewed and refreshed....although tired.
I have a new house........................![]()

@Regal Bee, you mentioned your accessories being rearranged as well. This is one of my favorite things to do as I get fairly bored after a while with my things unless I move them around in some way. Do that with my pottery and glass and other things.
Would love to know a little of what specific changes you make to keep things interesting!

I designed my house and feel exactly the way your husband does.

@Oznell Hi! I also like change and decorate seasonally. I rotate my accessories to always have a fresh and new look which is important to me. I shift the furniture in several rooms and also move small accent pieces from one room to another like small tables, ottomans and upholstered benches...which are a total weakness with me.
I change the counter accessories in my kitchen about every month. I have always done this and it seems to be appreciated by my family and friends.
I'm off this morning to check out HomeGoods for a couple of new things. Yay!!

I agree, that moving furniture, changing the small decor pieces and vignettes in one's home on some kind of regular basis, does two things.
It refreshes the space, makes in new and exciting.
It saves a ton of money!!! You get a new look and don't have to buy (or paint or remodel) a single thing!
