Town & Country Living blog featured this adorable beach house by designer Kate Jackson.

It's so cozy,  and the water view isn't bad!   This is how I think of beautiful and breezy coastal Rhode Island.  The designer compared the cottage to "an old fisherman's sweater", in terms of comfort, and I agree:

The stove makes me think that even with winter squalls outside, you'd be snug as a bug.  It's apparently a "guest" cottage to the main house, but I'd probably prefer it to the big house!

Love the toasty brown wall color against the off-white woodwork.  It's "Flax" by Restoration Hardware, but reminds me also of Benjamin Moore's "Alexandria Beige". It's not oppressive, but deep enough to make an impression.

All the textures contribute to the warmth, like the rattan chair, the bamboo blinds, woven ottoman.

I wish they had shown more than this tiny glimpse of the kitchen--

I like the consistency of the color being brought into the cute powder room--

A window lighting a staircase is a real asset.  Stairs are not necessarily my friend, but I do like the architectural effect they have on the cottage--

I can only imagine that the sleeping here is very restful!

Easy living....

What a warm and cozy cottage!  Not exactly my style for a residence but it would be perfect for vacation rental.  I'd want to change out a few things especially the thick rope handrail.  It's a cool feature but I'd feel more secure with a normal wood handrail and I would also want it on the other side of the staircase that's open to the downstairs.

Very nice and comfortable.  Quite livable without the obligatory "Florida" beach look.  Very interesting accessories.  I'm not sure how helpful that bannister would be though.

I am a RI girl. Love the ocean. Spent my summers there. When my boys were young we spent every at the beach if it was a nice day. We always brought a season pass. My husband retired young and and he took the grandkids to the beach every nice day. I was still working at the time. I was just a little jealous at the time.
We now live in the woods and we really like it.
