REMOVING STICKINESS FROM MERCURY GLASS?

Does anyone know how to do this without removing the paint?

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean.  Is there something sticky on the item, or is it sticky all over?  If there's something sticky on it, like a label, just dab a bit of oil on it & gently rub the label off.

I always use Goo Gone to remove sticky labels. Can you use it on Mercury Glass? I have also seen them use a scrub daddy to remove sticky labels with just water.

Mousiegirl, is it sticky where a price tag was?  I've always used Goo-B-Gone, then wash with soap and water.

I never experienced this but rubbing alcohol removes sticky surfaces.  I would place the alcohol on a cotton ball and use on a tiny area not noticeable to test out.

Another vote for Goo Gone.  I've never had it ruin any surface I've tried it on.

Thanks everyone.  The concern with mercury glass is that the paint can come off, it does if it gets wet, as a rule, but I will try some of these suggestions on the bottom.  It is the sticky residue from a price label that I need to remove, also from tape that was applied to keep the lid on the jar/urn.

Wet a Bounce or other dryer cloth and rub gently.  Sticky surface gone!

I always use a few drops of Avon's Skin So Soft on a cotton ball. Let it soak for a minute or two and rub gently. This always works for me.
