Then there's the question of the plural--is it ranunculi?  LOL

@SHOPR  I read your post wrong, thought it was @mousiegirl.

 ra·nun·cu·lus·es or ra·nun·cu·li  is the answer.

Good question.  I don't know the answer but I'll ask Google and see if 'he' knows.  I'll be back.  :-)

ETA  Plural of Ranunculus  is:

 ra·nun·cu·lus·es or ra·nun·cu·li

Darn, we're good.  lol

I love, love, love them since I first saw them on a Martha Stewart show in the 90s as a teenager.  Too bad they don't grown in the deep south of Georgia.

@Mominohio  Whatever works.  LOL  They are beautiful flowers.  I usually grow them in pots rather than in the ground, works better for me.

@lucymo

@mousiegirl

those of you who have grown ranunculus, or had the cut flowers:

i have to order some bouquets that are 'fragrance free'-

sometimes the roses aren't, and there is an option of ranunculus, but i have never seen them in person, only seen pretty pics- and the supplier won't vouch for ff on anything....

can you tell me :

do they have any scent at all?

they look sort of fragile - are they ?

how well/how long do they hold up as a cut flower ?

appreciate any info- thanks. Woman Happy

@shosh  I have never noticed a fragrance in the Ranunculus but I am not allergic to fragrance.  If you're at a greenhouse or garden center they will probably have some in pots blooming and you can check it out to be sure.

I grow them in pots and don't cut the flowers for bouquets inside but they are long lasting in the pots.  Hope you can get some this year, they're beautiful.
