Quilt, comforter or blanket?

What is your preference? My DH prefers no top sheet just a fleece blanket. I like a top sheet and a cotton quilt. We solved the problem by changing our king size mattress for 2 twin size ones. His side is made as he likes it and mine as I like it. Then I throw a king comforter over the top to hide what is underneath. We take the comforter off at night. What does everyone else prefer? For a while we were not sleeping together because one of s was always uncomfortable - now we are in the same bed again. Also - i have the firm mattress I need for my bad back and he has the soft mattress he prefers.
