Does a noisy home make you tense and cranky? I've been in homes that are so noisy - music blasting or loud t.v. in the background - no one even listening to it.  I've never been able to deal with that.

If you came to my house, you'd find a very quiet place. DH and I rarely have the t.v. on, and if we do, the volume is low.  We live in the middle of town, so there's a lot of outside noise - there's a hospital on my street so we have frequent sirens going by, trucks, buses and everything else, but inside my home, it's peaceful and quiet.

Are you bothered by noise in the home?

I like either music or the TV on when I am putzing around the house. I don't like shows that have people screaming obscenities that have to be bleeped out on though.....

I have to say that the noise level in the house varies according to my mood.

Sometimes I like really loud music, but it can be classical one minute and rap the next, or anything in between. Other times, I can't stand to hear any music or TV.

We have no air conditioning, so there are ceiling fans and floor fans running just about 24/7 during the warm months. I get so used to that 'white noise' that when we put the fans away in the fall, it is hard for me to get used to the silence.

When I'm here alone, most days there is a TV on wherever I'm working.

But, we live in the country, so many days, there is just really quiet peace, since the kiddo grew up and is now out of the house most of the day and evening.

My house is quiet for the most part.  There is nothing on TV that's worth watching so I usually just watch the news and then turn it off.  I like to read, but the TV has to be off while I'm doing that.

As I have gotten older I like it quieter. Still listen to loud music sometimes. I like it quiet in the morning when I get up. DH is at work so it's quiet until I turn on the TV. I don't have it turned up loud like most people do. Any time I go visit my dad or sister the TV is so loud it makes me wonder if they cannot hear. I don't hear much outside noise. Since we had the dual pane windows installed I don't hear the outside noise like I used to.

I like quiet, no music, no loud TV, no radio.  Each day I go to our community pool in the morning only because at noon the piped in music begins and I find it agitating.  That being said, my husband is the complete opposite - talk radio 12-3 p.m. at top volume, Bill o'Reilly 8-9 p.m. top volume.  Fortunately, no music.  But I figure this is my idiosyncrasy, so let him enjoy.

My home is quiet. Tv is very low right now, it's only on because I'm semi-watching Valerie's show to see the set decor. I still hear the overhead fans running, but it's white noise for me. I can hardly hear the ac running.

I'm lucky. Outside is quiet, too. No planes overhead, no diesel trucks or Harley's moving, kids started school, not even any dogs barking. Something must be amiss, lol, it's never this quiet out there.

I live very rural, and enjoy hours of peace and quiet every day, as far as outside noise.   Inside, not so much, as husbands TV is on from as early as 6 a.m., until 1 a.m.  He starts out with westerns until 9 a.m., switches to game shows until noon, followed by local news and weather, more westerns and Syfy until local news and weather at 5 and 6 p.m., then he switches to reality TV or movie channels, until the 11 p.m. local news, before going back to westerns again.  I wake up to the sound of shooting, whizzing bullets, and loud piano music, and it's the last thing I hear before I fall asleep.  I watch TV in my little TV room every night, but am so quiet husband comes out to check on me because he doesn't hear any sounds, and thinks I'm "asleep".  Our girls watch TV in their rooms with their doors shut, when they are here, and you never hear their volume.  There are no radios or CD players in our house, and I rarely use the radio in my car.  I thrive on peace and quiet.

My husband and I are total opposites in this regard which causes some strain.  I like perfect quiet....I enjoy sounds of birds and natural living sounds even if people going by, cars etc.  I cannot stand constant noise of TV, music.  My husband would have TV on all day and I'm going crazy since we retired!  Funny but if I tell him, oh turn off that dumb TV, he'll turn on music as if that's better!!!   ugh!!!  Even QVC if on gets muted alot!

I can live with a little noise.  Constant loud noise, no.
