i find sears kenmore air conditioners awesome. i replaced a 5000 btu ac last year with an 8000 btu kenmore ac and it runs and cools awesome. we replaced smaller ac because at this new house our bedroom is hugh and on 2nd level. i highly recomend kenmore ac, if you dont have sears near  you can get it on line like we did, good luck.

@lexi  Hopefully, you can go to a store and get demonstrations on the ones you like.  I have central air and it can be quite loud in my living room because I am in an apt. and the heat/air unit is in a small room next to the living room.  I am use to it.  It is quiet in my bedroom when it runs.  I hope you find what you are looking for.   I just noticed this thread is from 2012.  Why do people pull these up and why do they still exist??????
