I once heard there was a new microwave oven that was quiet. I'm wondering 'are the doors quiet?' That's my main beef. I would love quiet doors. When I first heard about them I didn't need one, but now I do. I'd appreciate a brand name if you know.

@Judaline, that's something I would be interested in too. our microwave is on the kitchen wall that adjoins our bedroom wall. my DH gets up hours before I do and unless I put my ear plugs in I hear him opening and closing and running the microwave multiple times every morning. a quiet microwave would be so nice.

NEW microwaves are almost silent, except for the "beeping". The doors vary....some you can push the door lever when you open and close, and it's almost silent. Others still make the "bang". You need to see one in person and try it before you buy!

I'm having my kitchen totally remodeled. I opted to remove my microwave above my stove (getting a huge gorgeous hood intead) and we moved our micro into our walk-in-closet. Best thing we ever did! I don't even hear it on in there! And that's even when I leave my pantry door open!

I recently bought a new microwave and it's a Whirlpool Low Profile one. I have to say I love it, it's very quiet compared to the old clunky one that was there before. The doors are a bit quieter but not silent. When it is running though you barely hear it and it's a beautiful sleek look. It was highly rated. @Judaline

Must it be in Stainless Steel? Hard to find one that isn't.

@ID2 , going into a closet to microwave your food? I've never heard of that before. I sure would not want to go into a closet to microwave food.

Well, DH went shopping for a new one. Turned out, there isn't a microwave in "bisque" anywhere but they found one in another part of the country!! It looks fine but guess what? The door closing is louder than the one we replaced!!! The quality of this GE isn't nearly as good as my old Kenmore. The door sounds tinny when you close it and sooo loud. But whaddy'a gonna do?
