We've been posting about purging and organizing, so I wondered...do you have someplace where you stash stuff when you need to get it out of sight quickly?  For instance, the pest control guy came today and I had some paperwork spread out that I didn't want to be visible so I stashed it in a bag in the utility closet.  Other times, I might be working on a craft project and guests are coming.  Where would you hide that clutter?

In a drawer

As far as crafts if guest are coming over, so what?  Why should you hide your crafts?

I don't hide it. Say I am working on a sewing project - then our guest room will be a mess as I tend to use the bed in there as a work table. Instead I'll say something like "Did I show you my newest quilt project?" and just take them in and show them my creation. Or if we are doing some home improvement project that they have to trip over to come in I'll say "Oh please be careful. We are still working on ..."  This happens fairly often because we use our garage as a workshop but it is also the only entryway into the house from the street. If they don't go thru the garage they have a long walk halfway around the house to the front door.

I honestly don’t have one.

Right now half my dining room table is covered with souvenirs from teacher daughters last trip, as well as contents from trucker daughters truck that went in for service today.   That stuff will stay there until they decide to move it, regardless of how long that might be, or who comes to visit.

Sure!  And I am so glad I do!  Best places are:

In cabinets under the bookshelves in the den.

In a tote bag in my closet.

The big desk drawer--things get swiped off the top into there.

In one of those fabric hamper type things I throw in a guest room closet.

Out house is almost always neat, but I like to pick up the magazines, paperwork that may be out on the desk, or things on the island in the kitchen if I think they look messy!

We do try to keep the house company ready though.

No but my husband and I are very fortunate as we have a man cave, woman cave and a craft room that we share. So if we have projects going on we do them in these rooms. They are located on the top floor and the bottom floor of our home so we have the main floor open and always ready for anyone to come in.

@Sooner

I like the idea of the tote bag to remove magazines, mail, etc.

My DH leaves what I consider private paperwork all over the desk in our home office.  I have 5 grandkids that come over frequently, and I'd prefer those papers not be moved to use the computer, or snooped into by the teenagers.

I don't have a dishwasher. So even though I seem to do dishes all day long, occasionally someone will come and the sink has a few rinsed dishes waiting to be washed. I have quickly scooped them up (and any other things sitting out in the kitchen that I don't want out to look 'messy', and I shove it all in the oven.

I learned this from my great aunt. She and her husband were quite elderly and she couldn't see running a sink of water three times a day for the few dishes they would create at each meal, so she would often rinse the dishes throughout the day and hide them in the oven to be washed all at once later in the day.

I also use my laundry room to stash the dog beds quickly when people are coming. She is a spoiled brat, and has beds in three different rooms and the beds are rather large, so I'd rather they not always be out when certain people come, so a quick toss in the laundry room takes care of that.

I don't have one.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?
