Every room in our home is painted white, including the ceiling.

Re: Question for you decorators

I've seen it done quite a bit but my preference is to still paint the ceiling white.

Re: Question for you decorators

I'm someone that likes the ceiling and walls white. Color in nice too, depends on the person's taste and style.

When every room in the house was Navajo White, it was so much easier to do the ceiling the same color.

I would try it in one room to see if you like it.

Re: Question for you decorators

Originally I would have said No, to painting the ceiling the same color, however after looking at some of the photos, and the fact that this is a very light color , I would say you could definitely do it.

Like another poster said, do the 1st one that way, and if you don't like it, then do the ceilings in the other 2 rooms white.

I actually kind of like the look of all one color...

@bmorechick

are you using flat  paint on  the walls ?

If you use eggshell or any other type of gloss paint on the walls , then I would  only use flat paint on the ceilings  in the same color.  You would still need to use  paint tape at the wall seam if you use two different types of paint .

If you use flat paint  on walls and ceilings , no taping required .

Re: Question for you decorators

I have the same light whisper of grey on my walls and ceiling. It looks great. Do them the same.

@We rescue cats Mine too actually, and we accent and decorate with color! I love a nice white wall!! I like an accent wall in a larger room as well, but we haven't done it in this house-we did have it n our other home though and liked it!

Re: Question for you decorators

When we moved into our current house, every room had the a different color ceiling.  Sometimes it was the same color as the walls and some a different color.  I hated it.  I will add that my house has beautiful crown molding, top and bottom.  That too was painted and the worst of it was in the master bedroom, it was brown with a faux color ceiling.  When we remodeled/painted, I painted all the celings and crown molding to Pure White by Sherwin Williams.  It really made whatever color I painted the walls pop.

Re: Question for you decorators

Everyone -

Thanks a bunch for all of your thoughts - I think I might do as a few suggested and try one room first.  I like the look of it with some of the photos posted, especially with a light color.  We would use the flat version of the same color on ceilings, but we always use satin finish on walls because I have too many folks still living in this house and my 5 grandkids visit often so flat paint on walls here is not realistic.

My husband gets impatient and his eyeballs aren't what they used to be so he would have paint on the ceiling, hence the taping.  I have suggested trim gadgets and he has no interest in them. Yes, we have had an estimate or two for someone else to paint and well, let's just say he politely laughed them out of the house.

So again thanks!  Will see how this project goes 🄹
