Re: Question for Those Having Pergo or Other Top of the Line Laminate

Another question. Some have commented on the sound of the floor but I was wondering about temperature. Would you say it's about the same as a wood floor would be? I'm planning on using large area rugs on it, as well. And, I do understand it would not be as warm on the feet as wall to wall carpeting and hopefully, not quite as cold as my ceramic tile floors.

Re: Question for Those Having Pergo or Other Top of the Line Laminate

I have Pergo (maple) for 14 years in the foyer, family rm./breakfast area and kitchen. This is where we spend most off our time. We get foot traffic from backyard (pool) and garage. My husband hunts and fishes so it has seen many coolers scrape against it. I have had no problems. I am wanting new flooring but my husband says it still looks good (darn). It even lasted through a kitchen remodel. My springer loves to lay on it because it is cool to the touch. We have an area rug in family room for warmth. My tip for area rug, buy a piece of carpet and they can back it and run piping along sides. Eta: the downside is resale value, I think people today look for natural stone and wood floors and look at laminate as less desirable.

Re: Question for Those Having Pergo or Other Top of the Line Laminate

I LOVE my laminate flooring. It's not even top of the line and it has stood up beautifully for about 10 years now, with pets. I have a mid-tone cherry-ish color with color variation and it's beautiful. It's so easy to clean -- damp microfiber mop (Aslett) with water and vinegar. I just love looking at it. {#emotions_dlg.blush}

I had Armstrong Luxe Vinyl Planks installed in my kitchen/dining area about 2 years ago. I didn't want laminate because I don't like the hollow sound. I am very happy with the results. There are a lot of different companies/levels of of this kind of flooring. The installers had a lot of experience with it, so the way it was put in was excellent. Knowing how to set the planks so they make a pleasing flow to the eye is a skill. Everyone who has seen this new floor has told me how great it looks. It's holding up very well. It's warm underfoot even in the winter and is not at all slippery due to the slight texture.

I'll try to put a link. But if it doesn't work, just go to Armstrong's site and put Luxe Plank Vinyl Floor into the Search.

I have been interested in this. What kind of prep did they have to do to put it down? I would like to put it in my family room and kitchen. My kitchen currently has vinyl laminate and my family room has carpet over some type square tile flooring (I hope not asbestos).
