A few years ago we had laminate installed on our stairs and the master bedroom. On each stair there is a strip of wood about an inch and a half on the end (going across). We have had trouble with these strips. (I can't figure out why they are there except for cosmetic purposes). They are just not strong enough to hold our weights going up and down the stairs so much. Several times they have come loose and in one case, completely came off. I know I need to get in touch with my contractor, but I am wondering if you have steps like this and what can you do? I am thinking of maybe a carpet runner. Our little dog has trouble going up and down these stairs, and they are also hard on bare feet. Anyone have any ideas or feedback? Thanks.
