Problems applying Angel to TOP of Xmas Tree

I know this is going to sound "stupid" or "silly" but I put up my tree today, it is a QVC tree that was the today's special with the various light options. Well I can't get my angel attached. Does anyone have instructions on the best way to attach an topper to a tree?

All comments appreciated. I did google but I did not see any step by step, one video mentioned tying the bow to the tree but that would not apply to an angel.

Is your angel meant to be a topper, or are you trying to make it one? If the former, it seems like it should attach easily, no problems.

Usually there is a hollow part that fits on top of the tree - shaped like a cone.

If it's an angel that isn't meant to be a tree topper, you might have to wire it carefully to the top of the tree. It can't be too heavy or it will topple over.

I always have to use a large dark colored twist-tie on my angel Christmas tree topper. The top of the tree is long and not sturdy. I bend that stem in half to thicken it up then put the angel on that and secure with the twist-tie. I have to do it with my star topper also.

I had one that wouldn't stay put so I hot-glued a wooden clothespin to it and clipped it to the ""spear"" that comes up to the top.

What a great idea! I have a beautiful Brinn's Santa tree topper I got from HSN many years ago. Haven't been able to use it for years because it's been too heavy for the past few trees I've had. I'm going to try your clothespin idea and see if it will work. Thanks for the tip!

Ladies thanks...I tried to put the branches up the cone and it still will not work. I might have to put more branches in and I'm going to try and tie it to the branches under the dress of the angel.

Re: Problems applying Angel to TOP of Xmas Tree

I have a porcelain Santa tree topper that is rather top heavy and all it did was bend the top branches I stuck inside the cone. Wouldn't sit right and I was afraid the topper would fall of the tree.

So I wrapped the top branch in tinfoil an molded that up inside the cone. Santa sits nicely and secure now.

If the branches are too flimsy you can zip tie a dowel rod to the ""trunk"" of the tree to set the angel on
