Re: Pretty Window Seat Nook...

@Lucky Charm Your redesigned window seat and the way you styled your bay window sound fabulous! It would be wonderful to see photos. You’ve inspired me!

I agree @stevieb.... very pretty.... and while I love the comfortable, functional spaces in our home... I confess to having a few spaces that make me happy  just because I think that they are pretty or because they evoke a memory of a loved one or a special place or time.

at my small new england woman's college we studied and read out loud the poetry of emily dickensen, in the attic of the beautiful administration building while sitting on the window seats that acommodated the gambrel windows.  i was perfect architecture for emily who we came to adore.

@tobes, I live in northern Connecticut and love going to Amherst.  Have been to Emily’s home several times and appreciate her work.  Interestingly enough, many years ago my DD interviewed at both Smith and Mount Holyoke.  Great schools, but went early decision at Williams.  We like going to Northampton, such a lovely town also.

Re: Pretty Window Seat Nook...

love amherst as well and did go to emily's house years after I graduated...was with my 17 year old son who was touring the college in the 80's.  he was also accepted early at Williams a beautiful, excellent school, hard decision but he ended up at Yale.  He wanted to be in a city setting.  I still read Emily often.  she balances me and still make trips to the Amherst area for great cafes and shopping   small world isn,t it?

It's cozy and lovely.  Useless????   It's a perfect spot to get away and read or to do a puzzle or sketch or do a crossword puzzle.  If you have teens, it would be a perfect little spot to take them to to have private chat.

The cushion up is for aesthetics; the storage below the cushion makes it very useful.  I have two in  my home, full...
