Re: Pretty Window Seat Nook...

at my small new england woman's college we studied and read out loud the poetry of emily dickensen, in the attic of the beautiful administration building while sitting on the window seats that acommodated the gambrel windows.  i was perfect architecture for emily who we came to adore.

Blue Carpet, Green Drapes, yellow chair??   I'd fire my decorator.  and you cann't lean against the wall of the window seat, there a lamp hitting you in the head.  Pretty to look at, and thats all.

Re: Pretty Window Seat Nook...

i love a window seat.  That is a quiet place to take a nap after you have finished reading. Ours opens and has a screen. It is so peaceful

A friend has one also and her dog uses it. She thinks it is her space.

Re: Pretty Window Seat Nook...

The window seat is very pretty, but it's really just for asthestics.

I wouldn't be able to lay down on it and read, not enough elbow room.  Looks like the cushion is over the ledge a tiny bit as it is.  I'd feel like I'd fall off if I fell asleep.

We had the exact setup--built in bookcases flanking a window seat, but tore it all out when re-doing the room.

It was a perfect set up for entertaining large amounts of people because we brought in our large wrought iron patio table and were able to add 8 to 9 more places for seating/eating.  Three people could comfortably sit on the bench.  It had a pretty cushion and the drapes were made of the same material.

We have a bay window that could be considered a window seat, it's very deep, but not rectangular, so you couldn't lay on it.

I keep a 2+ foot metallic tree (looks sort of antique-y or like mercury glass) that I have decorated with dessert type glass ornaments.  (Slices of key lime pie, big hunks of 3 layer cake, fancy cupcakes, etc.)  It's in the dining room and up year round.

I like the yellow they used for the window seat area, very happy.  Doesn't quite go with the wall color (cool tones) or the yellow chairs although I do like the yellow chairs, too.

The blue rug goes with the wall color, but nothing else.

I always wanted a window seat...doesn't look like it's going to happen.

Re: Pretty Window Seat Nook...

I love it. I could sit in there for hours reading a book or even lie down to read. I could take a nap in there.

I am short. I am used to not having back support.  I have to sit forward on most furniture so that the break of my legs at the knees can bend at the edge.  Usually my feet dangle too.

When I am in church, my feet never touch the floor while sitting and my back never has support, since I can sit back far enough.

They are  probably comfy for children and short people.

@BridgegalNot totally useless.  Any dog or cat would love sitting there looking out the window!
