I have never had a pressure washer and our patio is nasty and house in the back has green on it from when it gets really humidity in summer. Is there anything I should know or do when I ususe it for the first time?

Be careful with it, I had more than one incident with ours. They pack a wallop if you hit anything that is 'delicate' (as in my toes!) I hit one of my plants and destroyed the plant, holder and all.

I have a Honda power washer at least 5 years now.  Upgraded from the one my Mom bought me from QVC (Sun Joe or something like that?).  There's a big difference between power washers.  From something small like that "Sun Joe" to the professional ones and the ones that fall inbetween.  I have a hard stucco and brick house.  I do not use the power washer on the stucco, even on a softer wash.  I'm afraid of ruining the stucco.  The different wands and force of each vary so use caution.  I enjoy power washing.  It's a satisfying feeling seeing it get so clean.  My HOA is strict.  So I power wash a lot.  Got flagged last year for roof.  Had to have it power washed professionally and it was called a soft power wash.

@Pooky1. If you have not purchased,  I would look for one with a round scrubber brush as an attachment...maybe only the professional ones have that attachment but it would be a great attachment to have.

My husbands spends way to much time cleaning our back yard area (walkway as well as patio area) ...either the pressure washer is not strong enough or he is slow...drives me crazy.

I hire a guy who does this. Do not have to do it every year, and the cost is reasonable.

I totally agree that you should be very careful with a pressure washer!  There is a learning curve to using the pressure washer without damaging whatever you're cleaning.  I urge you to experiment on several much smaller jobs starting out.  

A high level of pressure will damage the surface of whatever you are trying to clean; car, siding, concrete, etc., so I urge you to start with very simple cleaning jobs in order to avoid damaged items.

@Pooky1 I agree with those who say BE CAREFUL! Even if you hire a professional, they may hit your windows, and the water can penetrate the areas around the  windows. UGH!

Wow. I'm glad I asked for opinions. I will read book that comes with it. My wife asked someone she works with about them and he told there powerful. I have balance issues so I will be sitting using it.I do most things sitting but not everything. I already watched a couple utube videos on the kind I bought. I don't have it yet.coming from Amazon in a couple days. All of your information will be helpful. I thank all of you for your opinions. Have a great rest of the weekend everyone.

You can remove " green" from your house with a product you just spray from your hose.

Pressure washers should not be used on siding.  It is way too easy to damage it.

There are many products like this one.  They work.

Ours doesn't have strong pressure, because I read that water can get behind the siding when using high pressure. Ours cleans up concrete walkways, cleans resin patio furniture, and removes the green gunk on the north side of our house. It takes some time and effort to use the wand properly.
