Re: Plow and Hearth Gift I received yesterday

[ Edited ]

@MKR14

What a lovely gift from your dear sister!! Not only does it suit the season, its memorable from your childhood. I still remember skating with my sisters, freezing cold, racing each other, then limping home sweaty but cold at the same time! Mom would make us hot cocoa with marshmallows. They are all gone now and only the memories remain. Memories are so precious, but I would love to sit down with them for 30 minutes, sipping our cocoa with our red noses and cheeks. Heart

Continue to feel better, MKR, and may your warrior sister continue to be blessed. Smiley Very Happy

Re: Plow and Hearth Gift I received yesterday

@deedledeedeedle  Your memories are so much like mine. When we walked back home in our boots carrying our ice skates over our shoulder, our feet felt like we still had our skates on for hours. Mom had the hot chocolate and marshmallows ready too. We were numb from the cold but loved it. We would go down to the creek and shovel the fresh snow off the ice for hours. Then we would go home and have lunch and pray for no snow again until we got to skate for the rest of the day. A neighbor put up a spotlight on his barn so we could skate when it got dark and enjoy having fun longer. Things were so much simpler when I was young. No cell phones and computers. Our fun was using our imaginations in creative ways. We would go caroling with the church and help out at church suppers. I remember when I was 12 years old and pouring water for an older gentleman at a church supper. I got too close to his head and the pitcher bumped it. My first reaction was to kiss it and I did. He laughed and said it was the best part of his day. I am 67 now and it was like it was just yesterday in my memory. Thanks for the kind words and my sister will fight as long as she can. She's my warrior for sure. Happy Holidays!  Heart
