Plow and Hearth Gift I received yesterday

[ Edited ]

IMG_1217.JPGIMG_1213.JPGMy sister lives in Virginia and we have always been close. Two years ago she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. She had a stem cell transplant and it worked. She has been cancer free the last year. She knows this has been a bad year health wise for me but I am much better right now. Periodically I would send her a gift-just because and she does the same. The photo here she sent yesterday "directly from Plow and Hearth" and not on QVC. These are awesome. The cardinal also was Perfect as it was our Mom's favorite bird. We miss her. There is special meaning to her and I as we were always skating whenever we got any spare time after school and on the weekends. We have so many memories of our childhood so these were so realistic to our old skates. We never had new skates and we always took good care of what we had. Although we don't live close to each other but we are always connected. Hope you all have special memories to share of your childhood also. Smiley Happy

What a sweet gift from a sister....to remember some fun childhood times together (: I love the cute arrangement too.

i have almost the exact same " pair of skates" container except in a deep red that put frosted greenery in also.

Hope you are feeling better, and have a wonderful holiday season (:

Re: Plow and Hearth Gift I received yesterday

Thanks for the well wishes. Things are looking up.

I think one of the most precious things God gave us was all our favorite memories we can cherish forever. I never take my family and friends for granted. I have found many wonderful new friends on these forums. It touches me with your kind remarks. I always look for the simple things to enjoy in life as that is what is really important. I waited a lot of years to be able to buy what I wanted to make things easier in my kitchen. I will enjoy them even more waiting this long to get them. Smiley Happy

So thoughtful!  I love to see when people are grateful for someone in their lives.  You're lucky to have such a sweet sister, and she's lucky to have you.

Today is one year since my sister died.  The last gift she gave me was an incredibly soft animal print Dennis Basso throw.  I have been ill this year and as a result, frequently cold.    That throw has been a loved and appreciated gift.

Re: Plow and Hearth Gift I received yesterday

@gmkb It is amazing how our memories keep us going through life. My son is 46 and I recently crocheted an extra 20 inches to an Afghan I made him when he was 12. I shaved off any fuzz and washed and fixed it up like new for him. He said he feels my love wrapped around him every time he uses it. He was injured several years ago at work and is disabled so he uses it a lot.I will leave two special gifts to my children-the cookbook I made for them with 100 of my favorite recipes and my afghans with graphs on them. My love will be forever in their hearts. Material things I buy are great but our family and their love is what keeps us going. I am glad your sister's love will be wrapped around you as you use your soft throw from her. I hope you feel better and have a wonderful 2017. Heart
