Please Help! Questions About Living Room Table Lamps!

Hi All!

I have always had end tables that were the same height, on either side of my sofa, with matching lamps. I replaced one of the tables with a larger, taller, round pedestal table, (That's when my troubles began. lol) and on the other end I kept one of the shorter, traditional end tables. The lamps are very old, so I'm going to buy new ones, and would like your opinions.

My husband thinks I should buy another set of matching lamps. (but, he doesn't really care) I think it looks off balance having them at different heights, and I was thinking I should look for two completely different lamps.

Please give me your opinions.

Should I buy matching lamps, and not worry about the different heights?

What is your opinion of having two completely different lamps flanking a sofa?

Should I buy one taller lamp, and one shorter one, so they are at the same height when you look at them? Or does it matter?

Should I try to find another table the same height as the new, taller one?

I've found several lamps I like. They're all very different from one another, except they're all traditional. There are celadon porcelain, blue and white porcelain, antiqued brass, bronze, hammered copper, and crystal. Any opinions about mixing the different materials?

I know I've asked a lot of questions. Any advice you can give me will be much appreciated.

Thank you.
