I normally do not like when wood furniture is painted, I prefer the original.

Re: Play Kitchen from Upcycled Materials

On my grandparent's property across the drive way, I had a "real" playhouse that was half a storage "shack" and half two rooms wirth a small bath and a claw and ball bathtub!  It was built around 1900 and near the house.  I spent countless hours in there with my dolls and playing house.  The windows had rope and weights!

The walls of the main (rock) house were real plaster with tin ceilings and it had a celler.

I understand that it is better to repurpose than not use or throw away, but I would never do that to the beautiful original chest. Sorry. I have a similar chest that I use for extra & out of season blankets.

How cute!  Kudos to people who have the vision to create new things out of old things.
