Hope we keep ours. It is neat and orderly compared to TJ Maxx and Big Lots.

@colliemom4  I can understand why they are not doing well.  They really raised their prices.  I use to shop with them 15 - 20 years ago and prices were reasonable but now they think they are Pottery Barn and their furniture is far from PB.  I now go in for a particular product on sale during the Christmas holidays and that is it.

@Katcat1  They've been having sales much more often. Probably because the company isn't doing well. At least that's my thinking. However they really don't have much anymore. At least not at my store. I agree with you about them being too pricey. They're definitely having problems but I'm still hoping they can fix them.

I’m worried my Pier 1 will close due to a new Home Goods store opening next month right across the street. I love both stores.  We downsized 2 years ago, and my coffee table and foyer console came from Pier 1, along with small decor items. Most of my rugs, linens and bathroom items came from Home Goods.

@CJCI am worried about the samething.  HomeGoods is going in across the street from my Pier 1.  Best Buy was there and closed and now HG is taking the space over.  I am really happy about that but worried that it will hurt Pier 1.

everyday it seems they announce another store closing --

I guess its just the sign of the times...although, we have a new strip mall opening on 7/7 and there is Michaels', Home Goods (yippee), 5 below and other stores -- guess its all about the investors!

i don't go shopping at alot of stores.  I went to JCP to get a few items for my GD and the place was a mess, hardly any stock or employees ...guess they'll be the next!  This is one store I miss from days gone by!

@homedecor1  I read that TJ Maxx is doing very well. So well that even more are been being built. At one time JCP was a nice place to shop. However last  time I went there another lady and I couldn't find anyone to check us out which is ridiculous. I mean no one. So she got on her cell and called the store to get someone to the register. Now that's just pathetic.

Perhaps the Marie Kondo method is partly to blame?

@colliemom4

hmmmmm maybe we were at the same store🙄

I couldn't believe 1 cashier and I waited very patiently -- finally my turn.  I had towels to return (2 big heavy bags!) the cashier told me I had to go to upstairs return dept.  WHAT????

Lugged those bags upstairs -- waited another 10 minutes -- told the cashier I wanted to exchange for color.  Nope returns only -- I had to return ...then I realized my "returned amount was $15. short" oops she missed 3 pieces🤔.  Ok mistakes happen she rerung it correctly.

Then I went to get what I wanted...back downstairs to pay!

How stupid is this...no cashier upstairs just one main cashier station on lower level.😡😡😡

@CJC  I think Kirkland has hurt them. I get emails daily from Kirkland with some sort of sale (30% off) or coupons. Pier 1 does have occasional sales that are poor, 15% off.

Pier 1 is now having 25% everything even sale and clearance which never happens.
