I don't want anyone to misunderstand this post I'm just asking this question out of curiosity. When did Penguins become a Christmas icon? It seems like every show on the Q has some sort of a Penguin in their CIJ line-up.

I just don't remember them being so representative of the holidays in the past. It used to be just Santa, Frosty, Gingerbread Men & Women and of course the Christmas Tree

Although I'm not really a Penguin person, I see no problem with making them part of the holidays.

Penquins have become a big trend and not just in holidays items. I blame "Club Penguin." {#emotions_dlg.lol} I think because it's a "cold weather" animal and because they've become so trendy, we are seeing them more in holiday décor. Anyone remember the Dayton's Holiday Bears?? Reminds me of the same sort of trend.

I think penguins are considered a winter motif like snowmen are. There are lots of cardinal items around the holidays, too, it seems.

I think in the past, they have been sort of a "second class citizen" in the holiday/winter decor lines, but I remember seeing them for many years, just not in the spotlight they are now. All those penguin movies like Happy Feet got them elevated in status!

Exactly and they're so cute. Let's face it, they add another seasonal but not specifically Christmas option to all the Santas, reindeer and angels.
