Re: Patterned Ceiling, High Gloss Walls

I can't imagine what would make anyone ruin those beautiful walls and coving with shiny, high-gloss orange paint (a nightmare to remove or cover). At least they didn't destroy the fireplace.

The only things I could live with in this room are the ceiling and fireplace.

I really like the ceiling, but oh my goodness, I'd tone down that orange quite a few shades!

No to the rug, to the curtains and NO to the walls, hope they realize how hard that will be to cover in the future.  Love the ceiling.  Basically strip the room and start over...Just IMO!!

I don't like high gloss paint on walls.  We have flat paint all over our house.  I don't care for the patterened ceiling either.  I do like the furniture and drapes.

According to the psychology behind color choices, orange is a stimulant.  It is used by restaurants to help nudge your appetite while, for quick turnover, also giving you the urge to get moving.

I wonder what purpose the designer had in mind for its use here.  The natural inclination is to see this as a dining room, but there could be another use, e.g., a creative business meeting, for this room.

I love patterned ceilings.  I know someone who had a pattered ceiling put in her dining room years ago and it is so pretty and makes the room.

With the exception of the wall color which is not for me, I like the room. With a different color on the wall, maybe a soft blue, it would have appeal.

I would like it better if just one wall were done in the orange. Do the other walls in a neutral color. Then the ceiling wouldn't look so busy.
