I have seen steps like this all over Europe.  They are interesting and beautiful.

We stayed at a pension while in Paros, Greece that had these stairs painted in a similar way.

I love them.  They wouldn't work in my modern home, but I appreciate them in places where they do.

Too busy.  Would make me dizzy going up and down the stairs.

I have a friend who had an amazing ability when it came to decorating.

She stenciled going up the stairs.  Her house was done (I think) in Early American style.

It was very tasteful and not too busy at all.

Would also love to see a picture of the whole room or area, but I understand that there isn’t one. I probably wouldn’t like it anyway.

@wilma  I probably wouldn’t either but I would’ve liked to have seen it anyway. There must be an interesting story behind the different fabric on the stairs. I love my patchwork quilts from way back in the olden days.

Nope....not a fan of the patchwork look in home decor, fashion, etc.
