Re: Painting over wall paper?

If you decide to paint over it, make sure the wallpaper seams are flat and tight. If not, the paint will show the seams which will be very noticeable. I've seen both good and bad paint jobs on wallpaper. A little extra work ahead of the job is worth your while.

Re: Painting over wall paper?

I have painted , embossed wallpaper and it looked great. Use oil not water based paint.

I recently removed wall paper in two rooms. So glad I did instead of painting it. Downy and water in a spray bottle. All came down.

Re: Painting over wall paper?

I painted over lots of wallpaper. It looks great.....some of it is even textured and looks even better. I did have some wallpaper in one room that wouldn't have come off even if I wanted it to. My builder told me to lightly go over the seams with sheet rock mud then sand it and paint it. That was a good idea. It was really easy to do.
