@NickNack Preparing for the painters is a job in itself. All furniture needs to be covered and away from the walls or will the painters do that? It's still a job. You will love it once it is finished. ![]()

The painters said they would cover the furniture and pull it away from the walls. I'm planning on taking pictures off the walls that aren't too heavy for me. I've got several heavy mirrors and a couple of heavy pictures that they will take down. I also will take the breakable things off of my furniture and put them in boxes. I was also going to take the switchplates off the walls so I wouldn't lose the screws for them. Not sure where I'll put the boxes yet. Maybe I'll move them from room to room as the painters progress through the house. I'm sure I'll come up with more that needs to be done when I start tomorrow. Right now I'm just thinking about it.
I'll be so glad to get this done. I've been thinking about it for several years.

Where will Frankie, Henry, and you be while this is being done? And is the paint non-toxic?
@feline groovy Yes, the paint is non-toxic. There will be two or three painters. I had a doctor's appt. on Mon. and a Vet appt. on Tuesday for Frankie's annual exam. I rescheduled both. I don't really want to leave three people in my house alone that I don't know. Maybe that is silly, but I wouldn't feel comfortable.
I originally thought I would board Henry during this time but really think he would hate it. He doesn't go around strangers, so I think he will just stay with me while they're here. I plan to stay in my bedroom while they're in the front of the house and go to the living room when they get to the back of the house.
It won't be fun to be here with them, but I wouldn't feel comfortable being gone.
Good to hear the paint is safe, and not leaving isn't silly at all; it's safety-smart. I totally understand and would feel the same way.
So you, Henry, and Frankie will be hangin' and chillaxin' together? Sounds like some extra cozy bonding time, and less stress for Henry (and you, as you'd be worrying about him).
Speaking of, please post a new photo of your cute kids when you get a chance. ![]()

@feline groovy Cute pictures!! Yes, I would be worried about how Henry was doing if I boarded him. I'd worry he wouldn't eat. When my friend brought her cat home after boarding he never would take his pills in Pill Pockets again. She felt like he associated it with the boarding place. She now tries getting him to eat it in wet food, but that doesn't always work.
Frankie loves to be boarded. They say she does great. Everybody loves her and goes in her enclosure and plays with her.

@Lilysmom wrote:@NickNack, a great time to paint. All fresh for spring. What colors did you choose? LM
@Lilysmom I'm using Sherwin-Williams Kilim Beige for the walls, Alabaster for the doors and trim and Extra White for the ceiling. Extra White is not a stark white even though it sounds like it. I'm very happy with my color choices. I spent a lot of time looking at Pinterest and paint chips before I made up my mind. I had an idea of what I wanted beforehand.
@NickNack I just finished painting our rental (soon to be sold, hopefully) all in Kilim Beige. I think the trim is Dover White. It's a lovely neutral color and I'm sure you will be happy.

@kivah I purchased that same ladder and it's awesome. I have bad knees, but painted a whole three bedroom house by myself. The ladder was a blessing.

We just spent the winter painting the whole inside. By we, I mean my husband did the painting, I was the helper/cleaner upper.
There is one room left to do, but that has to wait until the fall because there is a lot we want to do outside.
When my husband was working, the commute was a killer and he was good for nothing on the weekends so a lot of things were put off.
The honey-do list is slowly getting shorter!

I have worked hard today! I've taken many pictures off the walls, put lots of breakable things that were on tables in the back bedroom, removed switch plate covers and cleared much of the kitchen counters. I thought I could put a lot of things in the back bedroom and have them paint that room last. Then I could put things back before they painted that room. I started working at 10:00 this morning and haven't stopped very much.
I have several heavy mirrors and pictures that the painters will have to remove. Also, I couldn't get up on the counter to take the things off the top of my kitchen cabinets. They will have to do that for me. I hope having to do those things won't delay them too much. They will also have to move my furniture. They said they could do all of these things.

The guy who did all our painting for us in Pittsburgh was painting our front door forest green with oil based outdoor paint. The dog walked around the house & saw the open door so she moseyed right in, stepping in the roller tray. He yelled OH NO - GREEN DOG LOOSE IN THE HOUSE. What a collasal mess. That paint would only come off with terpentine. She walked it down the carpeted steps & across the basement floor.Green dog prints everywhere. Never got it off the carpet - had to replace it. Thank Godness she went down the stairs and not up into the living area.

@151949 Oh no! What a mess! That's one reason I thought about boarding Henry, my cat. I was afraid he might rub against the wall and get paint on him. I don't think he would stay around the painters though. I'm not worried about my dog.
