I'm so excited that the painters will start painting the interior of my house on Monday. I'm having the entire house painted including the ceiling. It hasn't been painted in about 14 years.
I've got to start taking pictures down and putting the breakable things in boxes. I've been saving boxes for about a month. There are some things that are too heavy or too high for me to take down. The painters said they would do that for me. I have cookie jars on top of my cabinets. I pulled a chair over to get up on the counter to get them down, and I couldn't do it. I put them up there years ago and have taken them down to clean them over the years. I couldn't believe I couldn't get up there. Getting old is tough!

This is exciting...to have your place painted!

My house is 17 yrs old and definitely needs a paint job - but I think it would exhaust me pulling things off the walls. I'm short and can't reach the top of my cabinets either. I recently purchased a Cosco 3-step folding stool (ladder) for $24.99 from Costco dot com - shipping is included. It's higher than a 2-step ladder and a chair. It's very light-weight and I was able to easily take it upstairs. Check it out. Now I can clean the top of my refrigerator and have people change those bulbs in the ceiling.

Oh boy! What a treat this is going to be!
I've been painting on a small scale here this spring, and we have rooms that haven't been done since we did the entire house when we moved in 24 years ago.
I hate doing ceilings the most!
So glad you are having it done, and saving the wear and tear on your body! I just paid $75 for a gallon of paint (on sale even) and about passed out. I can't imagine if I had to pay labor on top of paint costs right now! I would love to just hire it all done and be finished!
Now, what is that lottery up to? I need a new kitchen too! LOL

@NickNack, a great time to paint. All fresh for spring. What colors did you choose? LM

@Lilysmom I'm using Sherwin-Williams Kilim Beige for the walls, Alabaster for the doors and trim and Extra White for the ceiling. Extra White is not a stark white even though it sounds like it. I'm very happy with my color choices. I spent a lot of time looking at Pinterest and paint chips before I made up my mind. I had an idea of what I wanted beforehand.

It's always nice to have a clean slate to change decor. or furniture placement if need be.
I painted my bathroom, new light installed....and my office/craft room, new floor installed already this spring. Both rooms look so clean and bright...my office/craft room was quite a chore, as I had to move everything out for paint and installing the flooring. But I love both rooms now.
Now, I'm prepping our old front deck, back deck and fence for repainting sometime this year. Hubby plans on repairing the fence with some new posts/sections, then painting. My jobs are the decks... not looking forward to it, but has to be done.
It'll be nice when all are done and hopefully I'll be done painting this year...ha, ha...although, there's always something in the works...never a dull moment when owning a home..
Hope everything goes smoothly for you with your painting... I'm sure you will LOVE IT! when it's all done...

@Mominohio holy smokes, does your paint have gold in it!! I painted this winter and paint is expensive but I didn't pay anything near that amount for 1 gallon.

The painter is charging me $44 a gallon for S-W Duration Interior. I think he said he gets a 40% discount, but not positive about that amount.

Good for you! You'll love the results. My hubby and I just had the same thing done last month and it made such a difference. That said - be ready for a mess for 3 or 4 days, and be ready to answer questions the painters may have. It's wonderful when the painters leave - and then you start putting your house back together! LOL! Let them remove the heavier wall pieces and also put them back up for you - it's a lot easier for them to do it. Good luck and enjoy the new look of your home!
