I've got to start taking pictures down and putting the breakable things in boxes. I've been saving boxes for about a month. There are some things that are too heavy or too high for me to take down. The painters said they would do that for me. I have cookie jars on top of my cabinets. I pulled a chair over to get up on the counter to get them down, and I couldn't do it. I put them up there years ago and have taken them down to clean them over the years. I couldn't believe I couldn't get up there. Getting old is tough!

@NickNack: that's nice to hear. 8)
Where will Frankie, Henry, and you be while this is being done? And is the paint non-toxic?

I went through this process about a month ago now. It is actually a lot of work getting ready for painters. I moved a lot of smaller furniture into the garage. I also purged a lot of things, which makes moving everything back in, easier.
I put blue tape by the holes I wanted patched. I was as organized as possible and it was worth it. The painters said it made their job much easier.
In the end, it is so nice having freshly painted walls.
Good luck!

just finished painting ours. Never in a zillion years would I attempt to paint my whole interior inc ceilings.
My painters were worth every single penny I paid. My house looks fresh and clean. Next week I was supposed to have baths/bedrooms & rest of doors/trim. I cancelled I'm exhausted!!! The cleaning company is coming Tuesday & keeping my fingers crossed carpet cleaners scheduled for Monday if it doesn't rain. (Never rains here until I have something scheduled🤔).
It's hard work getting rooms ready but oh so worth it!!!! Stupid me I didn't take pics before except for floors,but, only difference is my house is now decorated with the "less is more" theme & my furniture is now "cottage" (cream) vs. dark oaks.
Get ready to do the 💃💃💃💃💃 when it's done!!!!

@feline groovy Yes, the paint is non-toxic. There will be two or three painters. I had a doctor's appt. on Mon. and a Vet appt. on Tuesday for Frankie's annual exam. I rescheduled both. I don't really want to leave three people in my house alone that I don't know. Maybe that is silly, but I wouldn't feel comfortable.
I originally thought I would board Henry during this time but really think he would hate it. He doesn't go around strangers, so I think he will just stay with me while they're here. I plan to stay in my bedroom while they're in the front of the house and go to the living room when they get to the back of the house.
It won't be fun to be here with them, but I wouldn't feel comfortable being gone.

@tamigirl59 They said they would move all of the furniture for me and take the heavy mirrors and pictures off the walls. I have been saving boxes for the small things. I plan on getting rid of a lot of things, too. I've been trying to decide which things, but will probably make the final decisions when I'm putting my house back in order.

Good for you! After so many years of doing everything ourselves, we decided we couldn't handle it anymore. We had three rooms done, and it sure needed it. More to go. We are also doing some remodeling, and it sure is an incentive to get rid of excess with a fresh eye. You will be amazed at how quickly professionals can get the job done.

@NickNack i hope you love you Kilim beige as much as I do.After 8 years we still have the original paint the builders used. We are starting to discuss having the entire house painted - we agree though - it will be the same color.

Sorry but we only like when we do our own painting. We are slowly repainting our brand new home. Hated how terrible our cottage was painted when we had it built just 3 years ago. I would never have it painted again by anyone else but us.

We decided on Sherwin-Williams Duration paint too. The color is called lightweight beige. Hope it can be done by early May.
