All the elements are nice, but together they're a disaster. The stairway itself is beautiful. Both sets of wallpaper are nice, but I'd prefer they match to unify the space. The floor is nicely done but looks awful with the other attributes of the space and I honestly see no purpose to that chair and sconce sitting out in left field. The space needs some sort of seating piece or casegood, but not this one. Somebody's decorator was trying too hard and didn't get it right.

I think it is a mortal sin to paint perfectly wonderful hardwood floors.  It should only be done to cover imperfections or on floors that are in not so nice shape.

I would paint the walls a solid color (don't like wallpaper of any kind), but otherwise I love this!

IMO the floor ruins this entire foyer.  It is too dark and does not coordinate with the rest of the decor.  I like the wallpaper and the niche but would add some color to the area.  The winding staircase is very pretty.  DH and I are retired wedding photographers and I can picture a bride and her attendants standing on the stairs.  Also the groom and his attendants.

Nope, to the brass runners, white stairs, grey rug, tiny mirror, light, and chairs.
