Re: Paint color ideas?

[ Edited ]

@Hopein24  Sherwin Williams 'Doeskin' would work perfectly with your aesthetic and while it's not a really light color, it's a good bit lighter than your preferred colors. It's also a chameleon color, taking on different tints as light shifts throughout the day.  Alternatively, if you want a color rather than a neutral, pale sage would be pretty. Doeskin samples are below. SW6044.

I would stay away from blue.  It would not compliment your decor.  I like the suggestions of a soft grey or an almond color.

I agree with @Sooner. My first thought was a pale green. Another option would be a very pale peach color.

@Hopein24

Given the light-limited North exposure, I would definitely go for a pale yellow which would add a "warm" welcoming feel to the color / decor heaviness of the room.

You're absolutely right about the further darkness a cranberry / wine would bring.  Almond, cream or white would still not bring in the warm glowing light of yellow.

If you'd prefer to not use paint swatches, I have used sheets or throws to provide a color backdrop when friends are unsure of which paint color to choose. Then they could narrow paint swatches of a certain color on paper to make their final decision.  Since the room doesn't seem to get much difference in the amount of light, this might be the easiest approach.

Good Luck !

The furniture color would be a big factor.  Didn't see a mention of the current color.  Are you planning all new?  Lots more leeway.

@GingerHead   Your quote on not having your pet any longer and being a life diminished.  So true.  We can't do another dog now and I still grieve for my last baby that passed last Oct.  I miss her SO much.  We just can't do another now. Dean Koontz quote.

Hey @qualitygal,

First off, I'm so so sorry to hear about the recent loss of your sweet love. Heart  It is so hard.

We lost our first love after 17 years and it was the hardest thing my husband and I had ever been through because our dogs are  our children (no human kids for us).

It was so hard we hesitated to get another one but true to the quote you quoted ..only for a short time because we realized how life just wasn't the same without one.

Fast forward....we now have our second love and he's 10 years old and we couldn't love him more.

Really the best thing we did to heal from our loss was to get another dog. So I hope, when you're ready, that ya'll can get another cutie to love.

God bless you both for saving and loving another precious life. May you have many more wonderful years together.

Thanks to everyone for the wonderful ideas! I never considered Doe skin by Sherwin Williams, or a warm yellow, but I love both of those ideas! My furniture in this room is dark chocolate brown leather with a contrasting, lighter topstitch. A live edge 6 foot walnut bench. I think my question would be, if I go with the Doe skin, I can keep my current drapes as they area Doe skin color with bear, moose and elk tapestry valances. But if I go with a warm yellow, would those drapes still work? Thanks a million everyone, I appreciate any advice!

I'm leaning toward a soft white that leans into a warm buttery yellow shade.  Heavy cream, toward yellow.
