It's on the leafy 'Main Line', in Radnor, PA:

Sorry for the not-great photo.  The Homeworthy video just zoomed past the exterior shot!  I find the facade very graceful, with the tall arched windows, the window boxes, the stately keystone arch over the front door...

This is the house of Meeghan Mullin, whose design style you might describe as traditional, but with colorful modern whimsy mixed in. Fresh, not musty.

The spacious entry hall, looking toward the dining room on one side.  It's bright, welcoming, art-filled.  She thrifted the round focal point table.

See what I mean about the 'modern whimsy,' below?  Along with her gorgeous oil paintings, she's fond of things like this colorful "heart candy" art installation made by her husband. It's typical of the thread of playfulness you see thoughout--

Her dining room is a delicate petal-pink, not too "sweet", just cheerful.  Pink is one of her must-haves.

Whenever I see Chippendale chairs, I think poignantly of our sweet, sweet @ECBG.   She is so very missed on the Home forum, among others!

Love her exuberant art, her chandelier, the wainscoting, her kitty nonchalantly grooming on the white chair...

Can't get enough of her kitty-- he's a big boy, looks just like my strapping, but placid Baxter....   He clearly has the run of the house, here in her formal living room--

While I enjoy a wee touch of animal print ( in a pillow, esp.)  two leopard print chairs are not for me!  But, I think it suits her style perfectly, and lightens the mood in this rather formal room.  Love the pink double gourd lamp, and emerald curtains...

Handsome antique settee, portrait, fireplace...

A happy, inviting kitchen...

It flows into a darling breakfast nook.  She's showing the colorful Turkish rug here-- wish it showed up better!  If you check out the video, you'll get a good look--

Which in turn opens into the colorful, comfortable family room...

Oh, I forgot which downstairs room this painting was in, but I think she said it is her favorite-- it is wonderfully moody and evocative!  Just touring the paintings alone is a treat.

Oh boy, I could go on and on, showing her kids' rooms, etc., but will end with this very nice patio--  looks to be floored with bluestone, which is so appropriate for beautiful Pennsylvania.

Her house struck me, because despite the august antiques, paintings, and great bones, etc., it has a breezy feeling of her individual personality, and evidence that a real family lives there.

I like this art work with the traditional furniture.

I also like green and animal print together. I would like a floral watercolor painting above the mantle.

Love the kitchen.

For me this is a no.  It is too dark, it has too much furniture, and too many mixed styles and eras--a lot of which doesn't, for me personally, blend well.

I'd get rid of some of the really old furniture, lighten up and refresh what is left.  And pare down.  There's just too much stuff!  You can't move around freely--which to me is an important part of a happy house.

Re: PHILADELPHIA-AREA HOUSE

[ Edited ]

Love the patio, foyer and her kitchen.  I like that it looks like a lived in home but still stylish and well designed.  I'm not a fan of everything in it but it works for her.

I also miss ECBG. and find it so hard to believe that she is gone!

I love traditional. The entry is fabulous. Love the beautiful chandelier and the windows in the dining room. I'm not a fan of the leopard chairs either but the settee and the fireplace in the formal living room are nice - and I also like the mirror in there. Love the marbletop island and countertops in the kitchen (I have a weakness for marbletop furniture). Lovely patio area - I really the like the stonework out there.

Whenever I hear about "Main LIne" Philly area, I always think of the movie "The Philadelphia Story" with Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart, and Katherine Hepburn.

That's nice you mentioned ECBG @Oznell , I miss her on these forums too.

It's a nice enough house, and some of the rooms are lovely, but there are a lot of elements I don't care for.  Too many to name, actually.  What I really detest are the pastel hearts on the wall!

It looks lovely from the  outside.

I'm just so picky about the interior though.  Too much funriture and I just don't like the color combinations.   Like orange.  Or a lot of fake animal print.

Two tiny little things that bug me:  Fabric shades in the chandelier in the kitchen.  The first thing I thought of was greasy dust and old food smells

Then the way the color-coordiated books are stacked in the library area.  Just too design-y and twee for me.  If you have books, put in real books that you personally boudht for a reason.  To me, they give an interesting insight into personality.    I just detest this color-coordinated book jacket thing going on.

For a while we lived in Bryn Mawr on the Main Line near Radnor.  I have been in a number of their homes and for the most part, they have some dreary / dark / museum stuffy rooms.  These photos and one poster has already remarked are a mix of everything, inside and outside.

The kitchen looks like a school room with the chairs at attention, ready for the lesson of the day.

Yes, a lot of stuff and the hearts resemble classroom decor for the lower grades.

While it is not for me, it suits the owner / designer which is what really matters.  Enjoy !

Too starchy and busy for my taste.
