Re: Opulently Decorated Holiday Living Room...

I love it!

It matches.

It's all tonal.  (I think that's the word.)

I'm one against gilding the lily.

But when things *go together*, it looks well done.

No silver reindeer.

Or orbs that change from purple to orange to yellow to blue.

The lights are all of the same kind, not mismatched strings with different sized bulbs or weird non Christmas-y colors.

It's actually quite simple.

A wreath.  A garland.  And a tree.

The other decorations could stay all winter long.  Heck, all year long.

This setting is just the opposite of the "simpler" post.  For me, this is a bit over kill.  The fireplace is too overdone.

Simpler is sometimes better, in this case, it is.

It is pretty but screams fire hazard to me.

Looks like the 1985 Southern Living Christmas book.  A good look up until about 1990.

This is beautiful for maybe a Historic Home but it is not for me.

Holy cow.  I wouldn't last 30 seconds in that room.  It's the definition of 'way too much'.  And too dark.

Re: Opulently Decorated Holiday Living Room...

Way too much.  Let me say it again.  Way too much.  The entire room, that we can see, is just a jumble of clutter.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?
