Variety reports Oprah Winfrey bought an over 8000 sq foot home on 43 acres on Orcas Island, San Juan Islands, off the coast of Washington state.

Cost?  Barely over $8,000,000.

I always wonder where these high rollers and celebrities get local domestic staff to manage and clean these huge homes.

Do they have certain agencies that handle vetting domestic staff?   Aren't there security concerns??  Especially since a person like Oprah owns so many homes that she's only in each one a part of the year.

There are many agencies that cater to the Rich and Famous -- Oprah would never have to dust any of her homes. She's definitely a success story - and deserves everything she's worked for. I'm sure, she also sells many of her homes and makes a nice profit.

Such a shame.  A property like that ought to belong to someone who would appreciate and use it.  She's never even seen it and probably never will.  Its strictly an investment.

I wonder if she'll live there or it will be used to help some people out that need it, like she did the school for girls?  Did Variety say anything on that?
