It's quite large but has the dark top and arches that we have been wanting. My local Kirkland's store does not have it in stock so I would have to order. With it being wood I think it could be painted if anyone was brave enough!

Love that one mallemo. It is such a nice size and you can put lots in it. I would think it would be fairly easy to paid since it is wood, or looked like wood to me.

I like that it shows it with 2 candles in it. Good find.

Hi mallemo! I like this one too, for all the reasons JPC mentioned. I especially like the fleur-de-lis on the lantern top.

I think it would be easy to paint. With my fave, Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. Michaels & HL also now carry chalk paint or chalk type paint, too. The beauty of using CP is you don't have to prepare the wood--no stripping or sanding needed.

A little pot of red chalk paint and this would be a beauty!

BTW, removing chalk paint from glass or a mirror is easy. I use a wet cloth, and it rubs right off.

Can you just come here and paint one for me...tee hee! Would you just use a brush and then do you have to use a sealer, etc.? I know nothing about painting.

If only! Chalk paint sticks to just about everything. I just painted two brass table lamps with it, and it works.

Check out the paint at Michaels or HL. If it doesn't say chalk paint, get the chalk paint "type." If you want the Annie Sloan paint you can buy it from a stockist close to you and they will send it. It's about $40 a quart which is probably far more than you need. She has a beautiful red, tho. You can also find smaller artist brushes at M or H/L; smaller brushes would be great for the painting the tiny areas on the lantern.

No preparation is necessary except wiping the item with a lint free cloth. I have cleaned things with Chlorox wipes and painted them after making sure they were dry.

ASCP Emperor's Silk. A great red:

mallemo you can seal the paint with a waxing. AS has a soft wax but I have used Briwax and it works as well.
