Nay.  I like the coziness of separate rooms.  Separate rooms provide more privacy and "get away" space from family members when we need it.  Give me an old house any day.

You know I like Open Concept to a point, I don't like some of the houses I see where everything is open to each other, but a little Open concept I do like!

I also on the other hand like separate rooms, like Dining Rooms, so really for me I need to see the layout. I have never lived in an All Open Concept house.

My sister has an open concept partially where her Family Room and Kitchen are open to each other and I really like it, but her Dining room is separate.

So for me it depends on the house and the layout!

In my current house, my kitchen, breakfast area and family are open but my dining and living room are separate.  We hardly ever use the dining and living room, I could do without them.

For me it totally depends on the floor plan.  I do like an open floor plan -- but to a point.  I remember walking into a friend's new house and the master bedroom was visible in the back of the house as soon as you walked through the front door.  THAT is not for me!

My home has wide openings between the kitchen/eat-in breakfast area and the den.  The same way is for my
"formal living" and dining room separated by the foyer.  I love it.  I have had the open concept and was not a fan for me.  All my living is in the downstairs with sleeping is upstairs.

NAY, NAY, NAY!!

My house is over a hundred years old and every room is separate!  So great for having the dogs in one room, the cats in another, and everybody can have privacy!

No way would I want to answer the doorbell and have somebody see all my rooms and possessions--it is great to have a large foyer for visitors.

Also, with separate rooms, I can trap and control heat and cool air.

They sure knew how to build houses back in the day!

Yes, I am an Old House fan!

I'm not a fan, to me it just looks like a furniture showroom with everything bunched together.

I have a new house that is open on the main floor.  Large kitchen and family room is one big room which I love.  We have a big island with stools to where you can see the tv and talk to everyone in the room.  But we do have a separate small living room (shuts in with french doors)and a separate dining room.  I like the ability to be able to go into a different room for privacy, but having the kitchen open to the family room is so great.

@cactusgal  I don't usually care for the open concept but I agree, I do like this. I think that is my backsplash and countertops in this picture. Too bad my cabinets don't look like this!

Before we downsized a little over a year ago we had a large home with the open concept.

I have to say I loved it.  I don't like clutter so for me it was perfect.  The only thing I would have changed is I would have made my kitchen even larger and eliminate the dining room.  As others have said, waste of space, we never used it except for Christmas.  And I could have fit my dining room set in my bigger kitchen Smiley Happy  So.......yay.

Bedrooms were also upstairs which I prefer for privacy.
