I would prefer it pre ombre. 

I think it would look better if the omber was more gradual and not so cut off..if that makes sense.

I have a walnut wardrobe almost like the one posted, but in IMO in a better design.  My MIL gave it to me.

 

I would never paint it half way.  That looks awful and ruins the beautiful wood. In my world, only ugly wood should be painted.

 

Walnut and cheery wood are my favorites.
