My daughter made me buy a miele, very very expensive, but fantastic.

Among others I have a Miele Calisto but even at 1200 watts it does not even come close to the suction of the Shark POWERED Lift Away although at 1200 watts the Miele is far quieter than the Shark, yet I am opting for a lifetime warranty Shark with Superior cleaning over the Miele.

Unfortunately it's only a 5 year warranty from Shark. I know because I just had them replace my 3 year old Navigator. They don't actually give a free replacement, they will offer certain options; ship a part for free to you to fix the problem, have you send vacuum at your expense to them for service or lastly (the option I choose) was a new replacement for the reduced price of $33 plus $19.95 shipping. The only thing I didn't like about the deal was that the warranty on the new replacement picks up where the old one left off. So, I have a new vacuum with a 2 year warranty.

Fortunately if you buy off the infomercial it is a lifetime warranty with shipping paid both ways.

Re: Oh I am so through with Dyson

Dyson gets terrible reviews in various consumer magazines. They aren't even listed in the top 5 vacuums.

People seem to either love them or hate them. My SIL has 2 of them and loves them. She convinced her aunt to get one and she's had to get the thing repaired more times than I can count. She said everytime she takes it in for repair, the guy comments about how many Dyson's he gets in to be fixed.

I know several people who have a Sharke and not one of them has anything bad to say about them.

The beater bar on the model I own is powered by it's own little motor which has now been replaced twice. So add about 60.00 to the 400.00 cost of the thing, and it's been a bust for me too.

I love my Dyson Animal 41. It is the only vacuum I've had that hasn't given my any problems. It works as well today as the day I bought it 2 years ago, and it does get a lot of use keeping up with my dog and cat.

Re: Oh I am so through with Dyson

Have had an Animal since they came out; am on my 2nd. I broke a the canister fitting on my first Animal, had to pay $80 for replacement. The power beater bar finally broke so I retired it.

Bought another Animal; this was before I knew about the Shark line. the beater bar piece had to be repaired on this one too. My repair guy said he spends a lot of time replacing plastic parts on Dysons. Said he can't believe people buy them. My current Animal is so freaking loud I can hardly stand it; I actually wear ear plugs when I vacuum.

When this Animal dies I will go to the Shark thanks to the great reviews.

I love my Dyson, but I agree that they don't always get good reviews. We just purchased some new wood flooring for our kitchen and dining room and the flooring store discouraged us from using the Dyson on the new flooring. She said many carpet companies won't honor their warranty if you use a Dyson on their carpets. Too bad because I love mine.

I have a Dyson and my cleaning housekeeper loves the machines. Have had others and she didn't like them.

Why would that be? I have used a Dyson since they came out and my hardwood floor and carpet look great! I have never had any problems. My hardwood isn't scratched and my carpets are cleaner than when I use my old Oreck.

I have 4 Dysons, including one I bought about 12 years ago before most people heard of them. It's still going strong. I like the sturdy feel of them and I've never had to have one repaired. I've never used a Shark but I've felt and lifted them in stores and they feel like cheap plastic junk. I imagine most Dysons will be vacuuming away long after most Sharks have dropped dead.

Re: Oh I am so through with Dyson

Not many vacuums these days have the suction power they did years ago, so it is very frustrating to find one that actually does the job and doesn't feel like pushing a mac truck. I just bought a shark a month or so ago after reading all the great reviews and I am in love with it. It is light weight, no matter if your using it as an upright or using the tools, the amazing suction power remains the same. I can detach the canister and vacuum my stairs without lugging a huge machine or worrying that using the hose will decrease the suction. It is an amazing vacuum that aside from it's weight reminds me of the vacuums from the past. I have owned a dyson, a sears canister, a hoover, and a meile. This by far beats them all in my opinion and a Shark won't break the bank.
