ORECK-Tsv (V32009) in July ? Issues and feedback please

Well - just got back from a month vacation and put together this vacuum hoping it was going to be awesome!!! NOT!!!

So I'm going to ask if anyone who has this Oreck model (Lightweight newest model) is having the same issues:

1) Doesn't pick up the way they demonstrated. Seems like the sweeper head is NOT touching the carpet but gliding. I have maine coon long hair cats (2) and not picking up their hair like demonstrated!

2) Swivel - continually swivels while I'm vacuuming!!! Its so annoying I'll be directing it one way and it is going the other!!!!!!!!!

3) Is it just a inferior model (only $199) vs. the older Oreck which I'd have for years its heavier and it would have cost me $200 for repairs, cleaning, etc. this is why I opted to purchase this one.

I'd like to have some feedback if possible BEFORE I send it back and buy a cheap bissell/hoover at my local WM! (Actually my Hoover I bought as a backup 5 years ago works better than this Oreck!)
