I abhor hot weather so today is a blessing with temperatures in the high 60's/low 70's. Our hottest months are August and September and we don't really cool down until November, so when most of you are starting to see relief from the heat, we still have a month or two to swelter. We had horrible weather earlier in the spring with temperatures hitting in the 90's when it is normally quite cool. We are also suffering from an awful drought with almost no rainfall last winter, our normal rainy season.

It's too bad that we can't even out the temperatures across the continent. We could send you some heat when you are freezing. Other areas could send us some rain and cool air when we are parched and sweaty.

I'm coming to Pittsburgh in mid July, happy housewife. Everytime I visit, I hate leaving.

My DH and I both grew up here and lived here until we retired. We love this city - just not the winters. So we moved to Florida and we come back and stay in our camper north of the city for about 5 months each summer since 2010. It gives us a little of the best of both worlds, as we are happy in both places. Just today we went for a walk inside Walmart because it is very hot and humid here today. While we were there I bought a Steelers flag to hang on our house in Fl when we get home. When we are in Fl. we really miss the friendliness of the people of Pittsburgh.

I have to agree, Pittsburgh has some of the friendliest people!

Ha! It's Juneuary around here. It's 56 degrees with T-storms, which makes it feel like 47. Thirty minutes east of here got three inches of new snow. I put on my winter fleece shirt and turned on the furnace. Temp will be back up to 85 on the weekend. We really need the water so all is well.

Ninety six and humid in DC with the same thing expected tomorrow, and people wonder why I don't like summer... Those who love it are welcome to it. There was a time when I did too, but now, bring on the fall!

Fall is my favorite time of year. I think the turning, falling leaves, and cool weather with the smell of fireplaces is beautiful. The summer would be nice, if I had a nice beach house.

It has created extreme fire danger because it's also very dry. There is a fire on the Navajo Nation in NW NM which has burned 17 sq miles and is 0% contained. It's being whipped by the winds and they can't get helicopters in to drop water due to wind.

I was just saying this to my sil on Sunday. I can probably count the number of truly calm days on one hand. That's VERY unusual for us here in the Miami Valley of Ohio. Wonder if this will be the new norm.
